How to install VLC player in Ubuntu

Installing VlC player in Ubuntu is just the same as installing any other software in Ubuntu. There are two ways of installing VlC player in Ubuntu. One is through command line and the other is through graphical way.
To install the VLC player in Ubuntu, go to the terminal and type the following commands:- 
$sudo apt-get update
$sudo apt-get install vlc vlc-plugin-pulse mozilla-plugin-vlc

To install through the graphical method go through the following methods:-
If you have Synaptic package manager utility, open it(See how to install synaptic manager in Ubuntu 11.10). For this, search for Synaptic manager in Ubuntu Unity.
In Settings -> Repositories, make sure you have the universe repository activated.
Search for vlc and install it (as well as vlc-plugin-pulse).

If you don't have Synaptic, you can install VLC using Ubuntu Software Center. Open Ubuntu Software Center from Unity and search for "VLC media player" in the search box. Select from the list of results and press enter. Next, click on "Install" button.
